Research
Here is all the primary and secondary research that I did for the project.
Research Table (26th March 2025):

4 Rooms (1995) - I took inspiration from this film because of the 4 rooms concept essentially being 4 short films in one, I used that concept as the basis for the 4 different short films that are included in my film.

Adaptation (2002) - I took inspiration from this film because of the film's premise of a screenwriter struggling to come up with a good story, which is exactly what my main character is, although with a few differences and there's only one of him instead of two.

Nosferatu (1922) - I took inspiration from this film specifically for the mannequin head horror sequence. I wanted to recreate the scary atmosphere and tone that this film has by using dark filters and slow visual horror. It's also one of my favourite horror films and it helped revolutionise cinema as a whole.

The Mind That Makes The Matter (2000)/Kung-Fu Werewolf from Outer Space (2001) - I'm a huge fan of James Rolfe's work and I've always been fascinated by his early non-budget films since I first discovered them. I tried to recreate the action, comedy and low-budget elements that are in these films.

A Short History Of Cinema (Web Article) - I really enjoy the history film over the last 100 years, and I tried to include that as a theme for my film (with the 4 short films representing a different time period and genre of cinema), and I used this website to help me out with figuring out what happened.

What Makes A Great Kaiju (2019 YouTube Video Essay) - This is a great documentary that I used for the monster fight sequence of the film that appears towards the end of the film. I wanted it to have the exact scale and scope of old kaiju films such as Godzilla and Mothra. This essay helps detail what makes the action scenes in these films so great and impactful in a nice and clear manner.
